If you’re a microbiologist and would like to try using Twitter to talk about science, leave your Twitter username in the comments below so you can hook up with other scientists and build your network.

I am a big fan of Twitter, you can get horoscopes and epistolary fiction, but haven’t come across much science yet. Would love to see that change!

    I couldn’t get the twitterscan to work….
I need to follow someone around and see where teh value is… Alan?
But I think one of the big problems is that by nature (more accurately human design) science research is a competitive place. And everyone is already too busy to help someone that isn’t going to put their name on a paper.
It may change with the big-science collaborative projects…. and a new generation of kids joined at the hip to a cell phone or the like.

Twitterscan seems to be temporarily unavailable – try again later?
My feeling is that science is become more co-operative all the time, but there’s still a long way to go. Is Twitter a useful tool for scientists? Let’s get a group of us there and start a debate!
