Death of mycology – a career opportunity?
BBC News reports that Britain is running out of mycologists. There were 32 in the 1990s, but just eight now. Scientists say we should be worried as, without a British research base, other countries could stand to make lucrative fungi-based discoveries in everything from medicine to engineering.

What about plant pathologists and medical mycologists? While they may not fit under the typical mold of a mycologist they probably represent a meaningful population of scientists studying fungi.
It is imperative that an advanced scientific field of Mycology be revitalized throughout the world, for as we are learning in the Molecular Sciences, microfungi are vastly different as primary decomposer “pathogens” and “opportunitic” live-celled predators (specifically, as pertaining to human illness and demise) than previously analyzed. Out of the past 233 years of medical research, with emphasis placed on bacteria and viruli in the handling of human disease; primarily due to the incredible number of products and economic values placed on microfungi over their microorganic counterparts in Capitalist society, research and medical education in various fields in the study Mycology have been at the low-end of the fiscal spectrum politically. Why? Because what is realized in American Industry and in world politics and commerce is that many products such as certain foods, cleaning products, and other worldwide shipable commodities where microfungi that produce mycotoxins and microparticulates are either too uncontrollable and/or too expensive to withdraw or refine enough to protect the public health and safety. Add to this, the incredibly powerful and historically ingrained world health and dangerous substances communities (e.g., the Alcohol, Tobacco, Pharmaceutical and Medical industries) whom would stand to suffer massive and totally destructive fiscal losses with increased public knowledge and/or scientific scrutiny, and you might discover what I am realizing in the new Molecular Sciences field of Bio-Health Research Psychology. Microfungi are extremely dangerous to animals and human beings because of the direct biophysical and genetic influences/complex integrative activities that certain mold and yeast species pose on animal/human live-cells either naturally weaken through multiple replications in aging, and/or as environmental habitats, atmospheric conditions, toxic emissions, and other external influences contaminate and degrade them. Yes, in the 21st Century millennium of “Intellectual Civilization” it is my strong suggestion that we as a world body place our focus on the vary science that definitely is most critical in our demise, that of every scientific avenue devoted to the Molecular Sciences attributed to Mycology.

Hello Mr. Haney
Hope you are doing great and all is well. I am Ethan Fikes Grandfather from so.cal. Ethan is still with us, but had seizures on Jan. 29th and Feb 8th, 2009. Ethan is now 4yrs-4 mo.old, and is still having seizures. The attorney we had Brian D. Witzer has turned out to be a money hungry, sorry I want 50% kind of lawyer.I guess thats why the Gorman family had to tell him they would sue him. He is now asking to be released after misrepresenting my son, and his family. This guy based all of his cases on Dr. Marankovich, who was an incredible Dr,Human Being,And Scientist who did all the work.Shame to have people ride his coat tails and then run when they could not use Dr. M. anymore.Even though he has left us I will use his persistence, and guidence also as a grandfather and never give up the fight.Mold is a killing machine which will win long before global warming can fry an egg. Please call me Doug, would be greatful to hear a friendly voice to discuss theories on mold and Ethans brain atrophy or encepholitis. 909-630-9009 cell#, 909-392-8228
THANKS AGAIN
Sorry for lost contact but were in a battle
